In the local area…

Milan is famous for its shopping and boasts some magnificent art and architecture. Our top pick is the Santa Maria della Grazie Church, a handsome structure and home to perhaps the most iconic painting by Leonardo da Vinci, ‘The Last Supper’.

Be sure to stop by Duomo, the third largest cathedral in the world, taking over 500 years to complete,  the cathedral has breath-taking bronze doors, 135 spires and 3,500 statues. Well worth a visit!

For some history, spend the day at Castello Storzesco. Twelve small museums combined into one, Storzesco also houses artwork by Leonardo da Vinci, as well as ancient furniture and artefacts dating back thousands of years.

Shoppers will be spoilt for choice at Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the oldest mall in the area, which offers some fantastic designer and boutique stores.

A great way to see the more hidden parts of city is via the canals. We also recommend a trip to one of the many markets, a key part of Milanese life, where visitors will be spoilt for choice. Our top picks: Fiera di Senigallia (clothes/jewellery), Mercato di Viale Papiniano (fashion/shoes), Mercato dei Fiori e delle Piante (flowers).
