La Place de la Bastille is on your doorstep at this hotel, which was at the hard face of the French Revolution, and most certainly worth a visit.  On July 14th 1789, the stronghold here was stormed by the bourgeoisie (the French working and peasants), who did not enjoy the privileges of the ruling nobility and clergy who, although they were the richest did not have to pay taxes like everyone else. They stormed the stronghold, supported by rouge soldiers and were successful in their endeavours, the effects of which reverberated around Europe. As such, this day is now celebrated each year through France and is a national holiday, with parties, events and firework displays being the order of the day.  While the Bastille stronghold was demolished shortly after the Revolution, the site is now home to the stunning Place de la Bastille, with its 171 foot high monument and imposing opera house, which has a packed programme of events and performances.

There are numerous cafe bars dotted around La Place de la Bastille, the perfect place in which to pause for thought and cup of coffee, before heading onwards.

No visit to Paris is complete without seeing the world famous Eiffel Tower.  The Tower is just a 20 minute walk or 5 minute metro journey from this hotel.  This feat in engineering rises to a height of 984 feet and was built to commemorate the 1889 World Exhibition and the views you are rewarded with from the top make it well worth the journey. Once the Tower is ticked off your ‘to do’ list, you are then ideally placed to continue sightseeing in the area, with the Trocadéro Centre, Museum of Modern Art, The Champs-Elysees, Sacré Coeur, and numerous parks and gardens all being within a stone’s throw away.
