Our top picks in the local area

For families

Rice Lane City Farm is a 224 acre wonderland for kids that house a lovely selection of rare breed livestock including cattle, pigs, sheep, goats and ponies.  There are bookable tours of the farm and rides and petting the animals are a perennial favourite.

For romance

Haunted Liverpool does exactly what it says on the tin!  A spooky walking tour of the city’s most (allegedly) haunted places is actually great fun.  OK, so its not your average romantic date but at least it gives you the chance to cuddle close when you feel scared!

For culture

Anthony Gormleys ‘Another Place’ is a weirdly rewarding sight located on the Crosby Beach.  It consists of 100 cast statues of the artist’s body and they visible at low tide erected over a 3km area.  It is especially lovely viewing in the evening at sundown when the setting sun casts a beautiful glow over the metal of the statues.

For shopping

The Cheshire Oaks Designer Village Outlet is the premier place locally to bag all the best in designer seconds, last years designs and general bargains.   With a great range of top names and a smattering of high street ones, you can buy anything from sunglasses to bags to food at this compact shopping centre.

For eating out

Tokyou Noodle Bar is a tiny budget canteen which serves sumptuous meals at rock bottom prices.  It’s not high end cuisine, but it is tasty and filling and friendly and an eating opportunity not to miss.

For nightlife

Circo is a gaudy, flashy circus themed venue with waitresses dressed as commanding ringmasters and a sea of tongue in cheek tack and colourfully loud accoutrements.  This place could never, ever be called subtle so its best avoided if you are looking for a cosy night out for two, but if you leave your sense of decorum at the door  you will really enjoy this self proclaimed ‘freak show’ located in the Albert Docks.
