For families

Immerse your family in the basic history of this city with a visit to The Bastille.  This is the site of the great fortress that saw the beginning of the infamous French Revolution on July 14, 1789. Nothing is left of the original historic building but a little brickwork in the ground as a reminder of the past. An interesting note is that the giant column located there now actually commemorates two later revolutions – when they finally got the hang of things!

For romance

The little Square of St. Catherine is just enchanting – go at night and you will be amazed at the atmosphere in this small square ringed by old apartments and trees with soft yellow light filtering down through the leaves and glow of streetlamps.  Take a moment to stop and take a drink at a bar or two, and revel in the beauty of the night.

For culture

The Place des Vosges is considered by many to be the most beautifully built square in Paris. It was built by Henry IV and soon became one of the most exclusive areas in which to live. Napoleon considered it the jewel of Paris. The buildings’ lining the square are exquisite as is the delicate brickwork, the special colour of the stone they are built in.

While L’Occitane is a name that has managed to translate itself into many countries worldwide, the best place to experience this sumptuous skincare treat is right here in Marias, Paris.  This beautiful little store is a treat for the senses and a great chance to indulge yourself in some serious luxury.

For eating out

Chez Marianne is the undisputed champion of the many Lebanese and Middle Eastern restaurants in this area.  With a veritable smorgasbord of tasty delights, this cheap and cheerful eatery is top notch.  The take out window is an alternative to the busy seating area if you cannot squeeze in anywhere, but for any real foodies this place is a must.

For nightlife

Le Caberet is the hip place to get your groove on with hot and spicy decor to match the mood! Many celebs think this is one cool place to hang out so you never know who you might be rubbing shoulders with from one moment to the next. This hip spot also features a gay tea dance each Sunday afternoon, to which all are welcome.
